Ok now for the pros and cons of selling online. If you have the right venue you could do very well. That means not having a lot of over head and fees that you have to pay. You can get free shipping boxes and packing supplies from your local stores. They are happy to have you take it off their hands. All you really need to buy is the tape to seal the boxes with. If you sell smaller items that would fit into an envelope then you would have to purchase those. Add the price into the cost of your item you are selling. You can also add half the shipping cost into the price of the item. Then when you state your shipping costs, put the other half of the cost.

Look at it this way. You have an item you want to sell. You set the price at 3.99 add another 3.00 to the price, then set your shipping at 3.00. Your buyer will love your shipping. You will have covered your cost of shipping when you added the 3.00 to your item price.

To sum it up. Buyers don't want to pay huge shipping prices. So cut the shipping in half, add half of the shipping cost into the price of your item. You will have a happy buyer.

You could have a yard sale, but then you would be tied to the sale while your items are out there. Or you could sell your items online and not have to sit there. Just check your items daily and go on about your business. When you make the sale, and receive your payment, go ship your item.

The cost of shipping has gone up, but if we absorb part of that cost into the item price everyone is happy with the transaction. Huge shipping fees will turn buyers away faster than a high priced item.

Online Selling Pros and Cons

Many folks have turned to online selling in hopes of supplementing or even replacing income that was lost through job loss. I have been selling online since 2003. Back then it was fun. I would set up an auction on ebay and sit and wait for the auction to end . I always shipped as soon as I received payment. My buyers were very happy with the transactions too.

A lot has changed since the early days when I first started selling. Ebay was great, and I never had a problem. When 2007 rolled around, many things began to change. A little at a time, they were pushing the small sellers out of the venue. I am told they did this on purpose they do want the small seller to leave of their own free choice. With that in mind, it all makes sence to all the changes they made. Well they did a good job of driving me and over 77 thousand sellers away from ebay.

We found a great home after a few months of searching and checking out other online selling venues. Bonanza.com was created in 2008 and with in the short length of time it has grown at an amazing rate. Well you don't have to have a college degree to do the math, 0 listing fees, 0 insertion fees, 0 fees what so ever until your item sells, then it is a tiny fee.

I waited for a few months to see how my sales went, and when I had made over 300.00 I decided this was my new home and I was going to join as a plus member, so I paid to become a plus member and I am not sorry I did.

I create banners for use on the web. On web sites, I also create logos, letter heads etc.....

It took a while for me to start selling, and I even wondered if anyone would buy from me, because there were banners that were free out there and folks didn't have to buy those. I was so happy to see my first sale. I have not regretted joining Bonanzle. Most folks are very nice, and I have never had a bad transaction.

Two years after Bonanzle started, they changed their name to Bonanza. You know like the old TV series, with Ben,Adam,Little Joe, and Hoss. Sometimes Bonanza.com is referred to as The Ranch. You have the option of choosing which type of payment you want to accept, which is a really great feature. Be sure to visit Bonanza.com, you will find everything but the ordinary.

One of the best features was the Support team. If you had any problem and contact support, the site owners answer you. You didn't get a canned reply. They took care of problems in a very timely way which goes a long way in my book.

All good things must come to an end.
Slowly Bonanza started changing, they stopped listening to the sellers, started changing things, promised to advertise in a big way etc.... None of that happened, so now your item will just sit and gather dust because Bonanza refuses to pay to have your items show up on google. YOU must pay for that, and every bit of exposure you get will be up to you. Bonanza is the venue, but you do your own advertising and you pay to be seen on google or you aren't showing in any of the search engines. One more thing Bonanza had a great forum where sellers and buyers could come together and have fun getting to know each other, ask questions, like any other forum. In 2013 They did away with the forum which was a real downer for everyone. I see it as another Ebay only, hidden from view of the shoppers. Google has changed the way they want information in listings, they also want to be paid for your listings to show. Bonanza is still free, but if you want to be seen on Google you have to pay. Same with being seen in Bing. You also have to know what attributes are and how to add them into each of your listings. Too mind boggling for me now. So I am not a paid member on Bonanza now, and most of my clients come from within the site.
